Like other IUDs, the Mirena IUS increases the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), an infection of the upper genital tract that can lead to Tiffany 1837 ring pelvic pain, pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic pregnancy), and infertility. However, this risk is still low; furthermore, it is the patient's lifestyle, rather than the use of an IUD, that is Tiffany Somerset ring with risk of PID. The only reason for concern is if you or your partner has sex with more than one person (see "Who Can Use IUDs").
There are a number of benefits associated with the Mirena that are completely unrelated to contraception. Because it reduces the Tiffany Knots ring and duration of menstrual bleeding for most women, the Mirena might be used to treat heavy bleeding to reduce the risk of anemia. The Mirena Paloma's Tenderness Heart ring also serve as an alternative treatment to hysterectomy in women who experience heavy uterine bleeding.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is another potential use for it. "The Mirena is exciting from two viewpoints: It has the dual efficacy of both a Tiffany Notes band ring and a form of HRT," says Thomas E. Nolan, MD, MBA, professor of obstetrics and gynecology and head of the Section of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.
